From October 20th to 22nd, 2025, the 2025 China Wind Power (CWP2025) will be held in Beijing. The event will also feature the Hydrogen Equipment and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition (CWP HFC), further promoting the integrated and innovative development of the wind power and hydrogen energy industries.
Leading Wind Energy Companies to Showcase “Wind-Hydrogen Integration” Solutions
To promote collaborative innovation between the hydrogen and wind power industries, the China Z-Park Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Industry Alliance (ZHFCA), in partnership with the CWP, is launching the second “Wind-Hydrogen Power Exhibition” at the 2025 Hydrogen Energy Equipment and Fuel Cell Industry Exhibition. The event will showcase the integrated innovations of the hydrogen energy value chain and wind power technology. The exhibition will also host the Hydrogen-Power Technology Forum, where industry experts and participants will engage in in-depth discussions on green hydrogen production and wind-solar-hydrogen storage integration.
At CWP2025, leading industry companies, including Goldwind, Envision, Mingyang, Windey, CRRC, Sany, Shanghai Electric, Dongfang Electric, Sinovel Wind, Siemens Energy, Sungrow, Hopewind Electric, CHNT, Hengtong, Sunrui Wind Turbine Blade and Peric Hydrogen, will showcase their integrated innovations in Wind Power-based Hydrogen Production, Storage, Transport, and Application.
The above are some of the representative participating companies, listed in no particular order.
Rapid Growth in Renewable Hydrogen Production and Supply Capacity
Recently, the National Energy Administration released the China Hydrogen Energy Development Report (2025) (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"), which indicates that China is accelerating the development of the entire hydrogen energy value chain. The hydrogen industry is gradually transitioning from pilot and exploratory phases into a new stage of structured, large-scale development.
According to the Report, by the end of 2024, China’s annual hydrogen production capacity had exceeded 50 million tonnes, a year-on-year increase of approximately 1.6%. More than 600 renewable energy-powered water electrolysis hydrogen projects have been planned nationwide, with over 90 already completed. These operational projects account for a combined capacity of about 125,000 tonnes per year, representing 51% of the global total. In 2024 alone, 35 new projects were completed, adding around 48,000 tonnes of annual capacity—a year-on-year increase of approximately 62%, accounting for 63% of global new capacity. This trend highlights China's steadily rising capacity in renewable hydrogen production, marking a transition to large-scale development and positioning the country as a global leader in the green hydrogen sector. The extensive pipeline of planned projects is expected to lay a solid foundation for China’s green hydrogen industry as it moves into a period of accelerated growth.
China has already established large-scale clusters in renewable hydrogen production, with an integrated development model of “wind-solar-hydrogen-storage” beginning to take shape. According to the Report, hydrogen production and consumption in China exceeded 36.5 million tonnes in 2024, ranking first globally for consecutive years and accounting for more than one-third of global hydrogen consumption. Renewable hydrogen production has emerged as a major growth driver. By the end of 2024, global installed capacity for renewable hydrogen production exceeded 250,000 tonnes per year, with China contributing nearly half. The commissioning of projects in locations such as Kuqa in Xinjiang and Ningdong in Ningxia marks the industrial-scale validation of alkaline electrolyzer technology. At the same time, core technologies for proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers have made substantive breakthroughs, and pilot seawater electrolysis units have successfully entered trial operation, offering innovative solutions for offshore green hydrogen supply in coastal regions. These technological advances are expected to reduce the cost of green hydrogen production further, gradually approaching a critical economic tipping point where it can compete with gray hydrogen.
Hydrogen & Wind: Drive Toward a New Energy Future
Hydrogen and wind is not just about technological integration—it represents a fundamental restructuring of the energy system. As a unique energy carrier with both fuel and feedstock attributes, hydrogen plays a vital role in addressing the limitations of intermittent renewable sources like wind power, particularly in terms of low utilization rates, challenges in long-duration storage, and long-distance transmission. At the same time, this synergy stimulates the deployment of wind power equipment, hydrogen production technologies, and associated industrial chains, generating new jobs and economic growth opportunities for local regions.
Domestic wind power giants are increasingly entering the hydrogen sector by developing hydrogen production equipment—especially electrolyzes—or by investing in green hydrogen projects. Recently, Mingyang launched a landmark wind-powered off-grid hydrogen production and green transportation demonstration project in Henan Province, successfully producing its first kilogram of green hydrogen—a symbolic milestone. The project centers around a self-developed mobile and flexible PEM hydrogen production station, establishing a complete value chain from renewable power generation to efficient hydrogen-electricity conversion to zero-carbon transportation. This model offers an innovative solution for renewable energy integration and large-scale green hydrogen application, strongly supporting the region’s transition to a greener energy structure.
From October 20th to 22nd, we sincerely invite global partners across the wind and hydrogen energy value chains to join this premier green energy event and collaborate on the future of hydrogen-wind co-development. Secure your booth now and position your brand and solutions on the stage of the world’s leading wind energy exhibition. Let’s meet in golden autumn Beijing and embark on a new journey for the wind power industry together!
