Yunnan Southeast Asian Economic Technology Investment Company Ltd, whose shares are controlled by Datang Group Corp, invested 360 million US dollars in Cambodia Si Dengwo Hydropower Station and Phnom Penh-Battambang Power Grid Project. On the 8th of May, the opening ceremony was held on the construction site of this 230 KW transformer station. This project consists of Si Dengwo Hydropower station and Phnom Pehn-Battambang transmission and transformer lines project. It is the biggest project invested by China in Cambodia, it is also Datang Group¡¯s first power project in Cambodia, marking a major breakthrough in Datang`s effort to "go global".

The hydropower station is understood to have a installed capacity of 120,000 KW and is to be developed in two stages: the first stage is a power station at dam toe with an installed capacity of 20,000 KW; the second stage is a diversion power station with an installed capacity of 100,000 KW. The two stage power stations can generate an average of 455 million KWH/year, with annual utilization time of 3,989h. On completion, it could effective ease the shortage of power supply in Cambodia and promote the social and economic development in Cambodia. River closure at Si Dengwo Hydropower Station is expected on the 31st of October 2008, and its first unit is expected to be commissioned for power generation at the end of December, 2010. Phnom Pehn-Battambang power grid project include the transmission and transformer projects, its transmission lines and relevant transformer sub-stations. Construction is expected to start officially on the first of November, 2008 and is expected to complete in May 2010. Phnom Pehn-Battambang 230 KW transmission and transformer project is the southern core line in the Cambodian National Grid.
